EchoChiasm

Last updated: September 2026

EchoChiasm is a Bible reading and study app. This policy explains what information may stay on your device, what may be sent to service providers when you use optional online features, and the choices you have.

The short version

EchoChiasm does not sell your personal information and does not use advertising or third-party ad tracking. Core study information such as notes, highlights, reading history, preferences, and user-provided API keys is designed to remain under your control. Some features require network processing, as described below.

Information stored on your device

Ask AI, Debate AI, and cloud AI

When you use a cloud AI feature, the question or study context needed to answer your request may be sent through EchoChiasm's network service and then to the configured AI provider. Depending on your settings, this may use EchoChiasm's shared cloud AI service or a provider key you supplied yourself.

EchoChiasm may use a relay or hosting provider to securely forward requests and return responses. These services may process technical request information necessary to provide and protect the service. EchoChiasm does not use your AI questions for advertising.

On-device and offline AI

On supported devices, eligible AI requests may be handled by an on-device model. When an eligible request is completed entirely on-device, the request does not need to be sent to a cloud AI provider. EchoChiasm may automatically fall back between cloud and on-device processing when connectivity changes or when a local option is available.

Your own API key

If you choose to use your own supported AI provider key, the key is stored locally by the app and used only to authorize requests you initiate. Provider processing is subject to that provider's own privacy policy and terms.

Voice and speech features

EchoChiasm includes microphone, speech-recognition, Siri/voice-command, narration, and hands-free voice-control features. Depending on the device, operating system, connection, and selected feature, speech recognition may be processed by Apple, the browser or operating system, or another speech service used by the platform. EchoChiasm does not operate an advertising profile based on your voice.

Dropbox backup

If you connect Dropbox, EchoChiasm can back up or merge supported library information to your own Dropbox account. Dropbox access is optional and is used only when you choose to connect and use the backup feature. Dropbox's handling of information is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

Study Tours, library, notes, and highlights

Study Tours and bundled study material may include prebuilt content. Your personal notes, highlights, history, saved questions, and library choices remain under your control. If you explicitly ask AI about content from your library, the portions needed for that request may be included in the AI request.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

EchoChiasm does not include third-party advertising networks and is not designed to track you across apps or websites. Basic operational or security logs may be created by hosting and AI service providers as needed to run, secure, and troubleshoot their services.

Children

EchoChiasm is not designed as a social network and does not require a social profile for Bible study. If a child uses online AI or connected-service features, the same service-provider processing described in this policy may apply.

Your choices

Third-party services

Depending on the features you choose, EchoChiasm may interact with Apple platform services, AI providers, Netlify-hosted services, Dropbox, and other services explicitly selected by you. Their processing is governed by their own privacy terms.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version and date will be posted on this page.
